How to Stay Motivated to Work Out

Whatever the season, taking time to rejuvenate and get a start fresh is the best way to start taking care of your health and well-being.

Yoga Creates Balance and Centredness

If you’ve been thinking about getting back into your fitness training, but need some help, I would like to share 10 tips to help motivate you to kick start your fitness regime and stay focused.

“...when you’re faced with a setback, don’t be discouraged. You will have those days when you don’t feel 100%...

#1 CONSISTENCY IS THE KEY In order to reach your goal, you must be consistent. I recommend a journal to keep track of your progress and be accountable to yourself. No one else!! #2 IGNORE SETBACKS What this means is not focusing on your 'bad days'. Let's say you had three days of real 'kick butt' workouts, then day four is a complete disaster and you didn't even lift a leg. No problem! Accept the setback and move on. Never let it drag you down or lose your momentum.

#3 FOCUS ON SUCCESS Look at the bigger picture. Like I mentioned above, when you’re faced with a setback, don’t be discouraged. You will have those days when you don’t feel 100%, but it doesn’t mean you can’t get back up again. Keep going and don’t look back. Focus on succeeding and celebrate every milestone. Think about your WHY. You can do this. Your body deserves it.

#4 SET REALISTIC GOALS Setting realistic goals is the quintessence of your reason for staying motivated. When setting your goals, try to keep them realistic or it will be harder for you to attain them. that you can achieve them and remember to never underestimate your physical abilities. Challenge yourself in stages – daily, weekly, monthly and set timeframes to achieve each goal. Keep it simple and stay positive.

#5 CHOOSE EXERCISES YOU ENJOY This is the best way to stay motivated. Instead of jumping right into a week of hard core exercises and putting your body into shock and strain, starts off by doing exercises you enjoy. You can try dancing, walking or riding a bike. If you have access to a trampoline, go for it. You may love it.

it’d s a low impact workout that tones muscles and improves coordination. If you choose exercises that you don't enjoy, you may be setting yourself up for too many setbacks. Your workout should be fun and you should naturally feel the rush of adrenaline to keep you going. You can do this. Keep it simple and stay positive.

#6 DON'T COMPARE YOURSELF TO OTHERS You will always find someone who 'you think' is better than you or looks better than you. It's human nature to feel this way. Same goes when you're at the gym and you see someone who looks perfect (to you). Never let this be your distraction. Just do you. That's what they're doing.e your distraction. Instead, make it your motivation. At the same time, stay focused on your own fitness goals and capabilities until you gradually gain the stamina to push yourself to new levels.

Do not compare your body to another person's body. We're all built and shaped differently and our bodies do not respond to diet and exercise the same way. Focus on yourself and what you want for YOU...and always remember your WHY. You can do this. Keep it simple and stay positive.

"Focus on how you feel after eating. The healthier the food the better you will feel."

#7 START EATING HEALTHIER. If it comes from the ground, eat it. This may be the biggest challenge as even I struggle with it at times, but it's the most important aspect of your journey to getting your body ready to workout and maintaining your fitness goals. This doesn't mean that you have to go on a strict crash diet with limitations, you just need to start making healthier choices and choosing foods that are more whole, unprocessed and nutritious. Tip: Focus on how you feel after eating. The healthier the food the better you will feel. Try to get sugar out of your diet completely and seek advice from a professional about your nutritional and dietary needs. Oh and remember to drink lots of water. Stay positive. You're half way there.

#8 SELECT YOUR WORKOUT CLOTHES AHEAD OF TIME. I find when I do this, I'm subconsciously holding myself accountable to getting up early to start my workout. Pack a bag the night before and make sure you have everything you need so that you can leave your home on schedule. Enjoy your workout. You’ll be posting loads of engaging content, so be sure to keep your blog organized with Categories that also allow visitors to explore more of what interests them.
